iPhone 2.1 Unlocked at iShopRepair.ca $39.99

iPhone 2.1 Unlocked at iShopRepair.ca $39.99

On the 12th of September, Apple released the much talked about 2.1 firmware for the iPhone 3G. After getting our first look at the new upgrade, we were very impressed. One of the most noticeable changes is the speed and lack of drag on the new keyboard, as well as smoother transitions when launching and switching between applications. In fact smoother all around.

Also promised for the new firmware, was a significantly increased battery life for the iPhone 3G. The verdict is still out in this one. It also turns out that there were some unadvertised features on the new 2.1, documented on MacRumors by justinomg. Here are just a few snippets.

- SMS now has option to load earlier conversation messages.
- iPod song listings show artist and album name.
- Pause App installations by tapping on the icon.
- Podcast listings show partially listened to items.
- Certain Bluetooth headsets now work with the iPhone.
- Apps space in use listed in iTunes.
- Restrictions can now disable the camera.
- Album artist and album name now show underneath the song title in the iPod.

Looking to upgrade to the latest 2.1 firmware version? Got a 1st Generation iPhone that needs unlocking? Your favourite iPod and iPhone repair service, iShopRepair.ca is now Upgrading, Unlocking and Jailbreaking your iPhone for only $39.99 ! Don't forget, you can get a $5.00 discount on iPod headphones with any unlocking or upgrade service from iShopRepair.ca

iShopRepair.ca Guide to iPod Disk Mode

Learn how to manually put your iPod into Disk Mode, by iShopRepair.ca

When troubleshooting your iPod, it is often helpful to manually put it into Disk Mode. Disk Mode will sometimes help your computer and iTunes to read/sync your iPod when it is otherwise not doing so. Disk mode also allows your iPod's memory to be used as an external storage device for other data. Simply follow the instructions below for iPods that have a Click Wheel. If you're not sure if your iPod has a Click Wheel, click here. In order to return it to its normal operating state, you will have to reset the iPod.

Disk Mode:

Step 1: Before putting the iPod into Disk Mode, you should verify that it has a charge.

Step 2: Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons down together for at least 7 seconds until the iPod reboots itself and the Apple logo appears.

Step 3: When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons down together until you see the Disk Mode Screen appear.

Step 4: Connect your iPod to your computer, the display on the iPod screen will change and read "Do not disconnect"

Note: To return the iPod back to it's normal state, you will have to reset the iPod again by holding down the Menu and Select buttons down together for at least 7 seconds until it reboots itself.

If you own an older iPod model that does not have a click wheel, follow these instructions for Disk Mode.

Step 1: Before putting the iPod into Disk Mode, you should verify that it has a charge.

Step 2: Press and hold the Menu and Play/Pause buttons down together for at least 7 seconds until the iPod reboots itself and the Apple logo appears.

Step 3: When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Play/Pause buttons and immediately press and hold the Previous and the Next buttons down together until you see the Disk Mode Screen appear.

Step 4: Connect your iPod to your computer, the display on the iPod screen will change and read "Do not disconnect"

Note: To return the iPod back to it's normal state, you will have to reset the iPod again by holding down the Menu and Play/Pause buttons down together for at least 7 seconds until it reboots itself.

iPod Battery Charging Tips by iShopRepair.ca !!!

We promised it….and here it is!

iShopRepair.ca tips for charging your iPod or iPhone Battery!

The first point to note is that Apple iPods and iPhone’s battery charging systems not contain a limiter. Which means it is very possible to over charge your device. So to help you get the most life out of your battery, here is your guide to proper charging practices for your iPod and iPhone by iShopRepair.ca

Whether you’re an Apple iPod user or an Apple iPhone user, the first thing we want to introduce you to is the “Charged Logo!”

iPod, iPhone

This is the logo that will display in the top right hand corner of your iPod when the battery is fully charged. This is the indicator telling you your battery is at full capacity and that your device should be disconnected from the charger. You should reach this charge status in approximately 2 to 2.5 hours into the charge. If you continue to charge your iPod beyond this point, over night for example, you will be over charging your battery and reducing its life expectancy.

The "Charged Logo" can easily be indentified from the flashing "Charging" logo that appears during the charging process. (below)

iPod, iPhone

This is how the "Charging" status icon may appear on older model iPods

Older iPod Models

If you are using a USB charge cable plugged into your iPod or iPhone direct from your computer, you may have to look closely at the charge status logo see when your battery has reached the "Charged" status. If you are using a wall charger, plugged into an AC power outlet, your "Charged" status icon will appear much larger on the screen and be much more obvious. (below)
